Bart Deronde is programme manager of the Remote Sensing Applications team at VITO.
In this function Bart coordinates a team of 30 scientists developing a range of products & services based on satellite/aircraft/drone remote sensing imagery. Applications range from precision farming till water quality monitoring and infrastructure inspection, among others.
Previously, as a scientist, he focused on the use of airborne hyperspectral remote sensing & LiDAR for beach morphodynamics, resulting in a PhD at the university of Ghent.
Bart is passionate about the huge potential offered by the wealth of Remote Sensing data available today. This creates new business possibilities for the industry as well as new policy supporting information for the government
