Experienced Life Science and Healthcare professional, driven by a passion to develop impactful healthcare solutions through novel ventures and collaborative models.
+25 years of experience in life science innovation, entrepreneurship and building bridges between stakeholders. Kurt started his professional career as a founding director at the biotech start-ups Tibotec and Virco and continued his career in different senior leadership positions within Johnson & Johnson. During that time he made significant personal contributions to Tibotec’s anti-infectives portfolio. Collectively, Tibotec, Virco and J&J positively impacted the lives of hundreds of thousands of patients turning HIV/AIDS into a manageable disease, and Hepatitis C and MDR-Tuberculosis into curable diseases. He was a founding member of the J&J Innovation Centre in London and of the J&J Innovation JLINX Incubation model. After his return to Belgium he founded his own management company and held the position of Chief Innovation and Operations at CMAST, a Life Science Project management company acquired by The Adecco Group earlier this year.
In his view, transformation of the entire Healthcare sector will continue at light speed and will require a focus on bringing talented individuals together at the right time behind the right ambitious challenge.
Success will critically depend on the capability, and competencies of individuals and organisations to close the wide gap between all different stakeholders (Academia, Investors, SME’s, Technology Providers, Human Resource providers, Regulators, Big Pharma, …).
